Karndean Devon
As with every flooring type Karndean has its advantages and disadvantages.
If you haven't heard of Karndean before, it is a type of flooring, similar to Amtico but much less expensive. Karndean is a worldwide company and trademark that was established in 1973.
Karndean is a vinyl material that can be either in tile or wood plank strip format. It is available in a
wide range of styles and colours to suit any room. It is
extremely durable, with guarantees of as long as 12-15 years, and replicates natural materials including stones, marble, slate, wood and glass without the drawbacks of the real thing, for example where stone tiles may be cold underfoot the karndean equivalent is much warmer and gives the same effect.
The stone and slate effect tiles are
very realistic and you would not know that they aren't the real thing unless you touch them.
Karndean is also much
quieter in comparison to laminate flooring and other wood flooring options when walking on it and also if you dropped anything on the floor.
Another great feature is that it is possible to
personalise your floor, you can have borders and trims, different colour grouts, the options are endless so you are bound to find something that suits your home.
Karndean flooring is
very easy to maintain and simply requires a vacuum and then wipe with a damp cloth or mop, the flooring will not crack or splinter as it is very hardwearing and durable. It is also more
hygienic than other flooring options and will not harbour bacteria and dirt so is particularly ideal for a family household.
Karndean flooring does require a professional fitter to lay the flooring, at Fred Hansford Ltd, Devon we can supply Karndean, prepare the floor if necessary and fit the flooring. Special adhesive needs to be used to heat seal the floor. We can provide our Karndean fitting service throughout the local Devon area including, Seaton and Sidmouth.
